Current city councillor in Linköpingof, Lena Micko has been elected president of the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR) on 24 March 2015. She will hold this position from 2015 to 2019.

During her inaugural speech, she highlighted the need to defend local autonomy, the role of local and regional governments as employers and service providers and the importance to continue the development of welfare services.
