Refugee crisis - 07.10.2015

A conference to put forward local government’s role
What can do the regions to cope with migration? More precisely, how can they face the current refugee crisis? We will be answering to these questions on Wednesday 14 October, during a debate in the frame of the European Week of Cities in Regions (Open Days).

The conference “Migration: An active role for regions and cities” will be, on one hand, the occasion for local and regional polititians to exchange ideas and good practices when hosting refugees.

On the other hand, it will serve as a platform to discuss the access to EU funds for migration and how the regions can use them, especially those regions on the front line, which often lack sufficient means to host asymum seekers.

This event is hosted by the Greek MEP Eliza Vozemberg and organised by the Region of North Aegean, Sicily and Calabria. It counts with the joint support of CEMR, the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions and Eurocities.

A draft programme is available.
