Waste management and circular economy

Circular economy - 10.01.2017

Come to our event: How does EU waste legislation affect our towns and regions?
How far has European legislation come on waste and the circular economy? In particular, what impact does this legislation have on our towns and regions? Come to our conference at the European Committee of the Regions on 31 January to receive answers to these questions.

Entitled “Waste legislation review: regions & cities for a circular economy”, this conference is an opportunity to review this legislation, to assess how far towns and regions’ needs are taken into account by EU institutions, and to consequently highlight today and tomorrow’s local and regional needs. You can find the full programme here.

It will also be the occasion to discuss progress after several key legislative events concerning the circular economy in Europe. For instance, the ENVI Committee vote on the circular economy package on 24 January, and the expected adoption of the implementation report of the European Commission Action Plan and Communication on Waste to Energy on 25 January, will both be discussed.

Finally, our joint event will showcase experiences from front-running local and regional governments that make the circular economy work on the ground.
