Future of Europe - 22.09.2017

How can we get Europe back on its feet? Join the debate
Think of Europe. Think of the division and destruction we were in just seventy years ago. Since then, by working together, we have achieved so much. And yet today, when we look at ways to move forward, we are facing serious hurdles: it is time to get Europe back on its feet.

This will be at the heart of our debate: relaunching Europe with its towns and regions as change agents. Bring your ideas to our workshop on 11 October (11:15 am – 1 pm) during the European Week of Regions and Cities. Share them with130 local leaders, experts, and EU decision makers. Themes under the spotlight will be:

  • A diverse Europe closer to its citizens and concentrating on the big issues
  • An inclusive, innovative and sustainable Europe
  • Europe that plays its part in the world

This discussion is part of a broader reflection that CEMR and its members have undertaken, highlighting many issues and concerns laid out in CEMR’s recently adopted position paper on the future of Europe (also available in French and German).

What’s the format?

Instead of giving long lectures, speakers will only have three minutes each to talk. This will be followed by a discussion with the panel and the audience. This way, through an open debate, a much larger diversity of views and ideas can arise.
