Get funding for free Wi-Fi in your city with #WiFi4EU!
Would you like to be able to go to any public building in your city and access high-quality Wi-Fi for free? What about in a park? In a hospital? In a library? With the #WiFi4EU programme, this becomes possible for every town and city in the EU.

Through the #WiFi4EU portal, local governments can now apply for EU financing of free Wi-Fi in public places. Towns and cities from the EU, Norway and Iceland can apply, as well as some associations formed by municipalities – see the list of eligible entities for more detail.

How does it work? The EU will cover the costs of purchasing and installing new equipment or upgrading free, public Wi-Fi hotspots. As a beneficiary, you commit to pay for the connectivity (internet subscription) and maintenance of the equipment for at least 3 years.

Beneficiaries will receive a Wifi4EU voucher, which provides a fixed amount of funding of €15,000 per municipality. Those who receive a voucher will select the 'centres of public life' where the WiFi4EU hotspots (wireless access points) will be installed and may use the WiFi4EU voucher to partially fund a project of higher value.
