CEMR organised its conference on equality of women and men in local life, in Pisa, on 20 and 21 February 2008. It was also the 25th anniversary of CEMR's first conference on equality, in Pisa, in 1983.

CEMR policy committee, meeting in Stuttgart on 4-5 December 2007, renews the political mandates. The mayor and governor of Vienna, Michael Häupl, is re-elected CEMR president.

06/06/2007 - Opening of the House of cities, municipalities and regions
The House of Cities, Municipalities and Regions was officially inaugurated on 6 June in Brussels by Margot Wallström and Danuta Hübner. The house, located at the heart of the EU quarter, is home to CEMR, 19 of its members associations, and Eurocities.

12/05/2006 - First day of CEMR's 2006 general assembly (Innsbruck, 10 May 2006)
From 10 to 12 May 2006, some 1,300 local and regional representatives from 36 European countries gathered in Innsbruck for CEMR's 23d general assembly. Its main theme was the future of public services in Europe. The general assembly also saw the adoption of CEMR's charter for equality between men and women in local life.

22/02/2006 - Conference "Charter for gender equality in local life" (Brussels, 20-21 Feb 2006)
On 20 and 21 February 2006, CEMR presented its charter on gender equality in local life. The charter contains concrete commitements to which signatories must adhere, with the aim of improving women/men equality at the local level in Europe.

15/02/2005 - 2005 Golden Stars award ceremony. The Golden Stars reward the best achievements in town twinning
The Golden Star award ceremony took place in Brussels on 4 February 2005. The Golden Stars reward the best realisations in town-twinning.

A few original documents from the meeting at which the European charter of local liberties was adopted.
