Welcoming refugees - 27.04.2022
Polish cities plan long-term hosting of Ukrainian refugees
The UN estimates that over 5.3 million Ukrainians have fled their country as a result of the Russian invasion. Of these over half, almost 3 million, have gone to Poland. The hosting and integration of this vulnerable population is, by its sheer scale, a great challenge for the central-European country.
That’s why the Association of Polish Cities has prepared a questionnaire for its members to have a general overview of the condition of Ukrainian refugees in Poland and of the aid provided by Polish cities to Ukraine, including to twin cities.
The information collected will contribute to medium- and long-term planning to address the refugees’ needs, such as regarding the new school year, accommodation during fall-winter and access to permanent jobs.
