ACP-EU Energy Facility: call for proposals open to local governments

The European Commission's EuropeAid co-operation office has published a call for proposals open to local and regional authorities from both the EU and ACP countries.

The call for proposal is dedicated to projects in the field of energy. A total budget of €100 million has been allocated to the call for proposals "Energy Facility".

There are two specific objectives; each is to be addressed by a component:

Objective of component 1: To increase access to modern, affordable and sustainable energy services for rural and peri-urban poor by focusing on renewable energy solutions as well as on energy efficiency measures ;
Objective of component 2 : To improve governance and framework conditions in the energy sector at regional, national and local levels, in particular those aimed at promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency.

The deadline for the submission of concept notes is 1st February 2010 (or 5 February in case of hand-delivery in Brussels).
