PLATFORMA launches website dedicated to Charter on Development Cooperation
A website solely dedicated to the European Charter on Development Cooperation in Support of Local Governance has now been launched by PLATFORMA, the European platform of local and regionalauthorities for development hosted by the Council of European.Municipalities and Regions (CEMR).
The website, available in English and French, features information about the technical Secretariat of the Charter, ensured by PLATFORMA since February 2010, its action plan and a number of case studies. It also provides organisations supporting local governance, and notably local and regional authorities and non-state actors, with the opportunity to sign the Charter.
The Charter, a document acknowledging the added-value and vital role of local governance with regards to development issues, was launched during the European Development Days on 16 November 2008 in Strasburg. It notably puts forward a framework for more coherence and complementarity in the actions led by the different actors supporting local governance.
