Structured dialogue between the European Commission and Europe's municipalities and regions : European associations of local and regional government send their proposals to Romano Prodi
On 26 June 2004, the Platform of European associations of local and regional governements has addressed a letter to the President of the European Commission Romano Prodi, detailing its proposals for the future conduct of the structured dialogue between the Commission and Europe's local and regional governments.

In the letter the representatives of the platform express their concern that the "future dialogue must allow for genuine two-way communications and a real exchange of views".

They also propose "that a high-level political meeting be organised in advance of each year's Spring Council between the Council Presidency, the Commission, the Parliament, the Committee of the Regions, and the European associations of regional and local authorities, focusing on the implementation of the Lisbon and Gothenburg Strategies".

This letters follows the 10 May 2004 meeting between President Prodi and representatives of the Platform, to discuss the launch of the territorial dialogue.
