EU Urban Agenda - 27.01.2016

What will be the next steps? CEMR participated in a debate at the European Parliament
CEMR attended a public hearing at the European Parliament on the implementation of the EU Urban Agenda. The event, that took place on 25 January, served , served to MEPs and local elected representatives to exchange on the efforts that are made to accelerate its implementation while reinforcing the role of towns and regions in the EU legislative process.

CEMR, that fully supports the implementation of an EU urban agenda, believes that an increased involvement of local governments will ensure better EU law making by providing local expertise. Furthermore, it will ensure a better access to EU funds, the exchange of knowledge and a regulation that better matches towns and regions' needs.

The public hearing was organised by the Commission for Territorial cohesion policy and EU budget (COTER) of the Committee of the Regions and EU Parliament committee for Regional development .
