Come to our event on long-term investments for long lasting results
Developing renewable energy, renovating schools, maintaining a public transport network… Many projects require long-term investments from local and regional governments. What obstacles do they meet? What changes are needed in EU Rules? On Wednesday 8 March, CEMR is co-organising an event at the European Parliament to find answers to these questions.

Entitled “Long-term investment: Barriers and opportunities for regions and cities”, this event will address the issue from all angles, including changes needed in EU rules, Eurostat, and transport infrastructure.

CEMR will be represented by Flo Clucas, our spokesperson on local finances and Cheltenham councillor. She will present solutions to promote local long-term investments.

Following a wide range of presentations, a debate will take place. Several participants from different spheres of government from across Europe will be present. Among others, there will be:
  • Member of the European Parliament (MEP) and president of the Long-Term Investment and Reindustrialisation Intergroup, Dominique Riquet
  • MEP and president of the URBAN Intergroup, Jan Olbrycht
  • Cheltenham councillor and CEMR spokesperson for local finances, Flo Clucas
  • Brussels regional government minister for mobility and public works, Pascal Smet
  • Chair of the Committee on financial, economic and international affairs of the Vienna city council, chair of EUROCITIES economic development forum, Tanja Wehsely

Please sign up here before 22 February to secure a spot at the event. Feel free to also look at the agenda and the invitation.
