Privatising public services such as water management can have very negative effects, such as increased prices and reduced investments in infrastructure. Public water management systems, however, are providing more affordable prices with a higher quality. That’s one of the main conclusions from a study commissioned by the Austrian Association of Cities and towns: A comparison of European water supply and sanitation systems.
