Sustainable territorial and local development

Global City 2005, the international forum for urban decision makers, will take place from 6th to 8th of March 2005 in Cannes, France.

 

It has been created to provide a dedicated forum for urban professionals, helping them to respond to the issues affecting urban development. It aims to promote an urban renaissance, bringing together representatives of local and regional authorities, service providers, investors and development agencies.

 

The forum is chaired by Michael Parkinson, director of the European institute for urban affairs. Amongst keynote speakers are the minister for transport, state of Victoria (Australia), Peter Batchelor, the mayor of Budapest, Gabor Demszky, the mayor of Stuttgart, Wolfgang Schuster, the mayor of Vilnius, Arturas Zuokas, the mayor of Frankfurt, Petra Roth”¦

 

The key themes of the forum are:
- improvement of the urban environment quality
- development of the economic potential of a city and region
- management of transport and mobility

- strategies and the role of the mayor in the context of new governance models.

 

The agenda includes workshops, conferences and meetings. More than 1,000 of the major global figures in urban management, as well as 100 experts, 50 contributing cities and 18 countries will attend.

 

Global City 2005 is organised by Reed MIDEM - global leaders in the organisation of professional events. It takes place two days before the start of MIPIM, the world's leading property market.
