Consultation on Energy Performance of Buildings Directive
The European Commission has launched a public consultation on the recasting of the 2002 Energy Performance of Buildings Directive. Deadline for submission is 20 June.

The consultation should help the Commission.gain input on the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive from interested parties through an online questionnaire and thus enable it to better develop the new proposal.

According to the European Commission, the buildings sector with its substantial share in EU energy use (40%) plays an important role for achieving the EU's energy policy objectives. However a large part of its cost-effective energy efficiency potential is not being achieved in practice. The narrowing of the gap between the realisable potential of the buildings sector and its real utilisation is the Commission's main motivation for recasting current directive.

Replies can be sent until 20 June 2008. A proposal for the recasting of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive should be put forth by the end of 2008.

The on-line questionnaire is only available in English.
