Town twinning - 17.04.2004
Seminar on twinning - Dublin, 5/6 April 2004
CEMR organised a seminar for the twinning national coordinators of its members associations, in Dublin, on 5/6 April 2004. The meeting took place at the Institute of Public Administration.
The aim was to reflect on the role and the future of twinning in the XXIst century.
CEMR called in an external moderator, Christine LEE, who specialises in Human resources management. She directed the debates to find what potential twinning - as a scheme that helps bring people together - has in various European states.
The meeting took place as CEMR has initiated a reflexion on the role of twinning in Europe, and as the European union prepares itself for the arrival of ten new member states.
CEMR Secretary general, Jeremy Smith, welcomed the results of the seminar. He added that CEMR will complete its reflexion on twinning via a political debate to be held at its next Executive Committee meeting, in Maastricht, next November.
