The municipality of Poznan, in Poland, has celebrated the enlargement, on 1 May 2004 by creating a massive human flag of the European Union.
 

Some 4,500 inhabitants of Poznan replied to the Mayor's call, Ryszard Grobelny, and gathered in one of the biggest parks of the town. In all, the flag measured 1,500 square meters.
 

For several days, newspapers in Poznan have been publishing each day a part of the photograph. When the last piece of the "jigsaw" will be published, Poznan inhabitants will possess a large version of the picture.
 

The original picture will be offered as a gift to the Museum of Poznan.
