In the framework of the adoption of its new graphic identity and the organisation of its General Assembly, held in Cadiz, Spain, from 26 to 28 September 2012, the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) has published two new publications.  The first is a brochure presenting CEMR and the other outlining the structures and competences of local and regional governments in Europe.

Who are CEMR’s members?  How can local and regional elected representatives participate in CEMR’s work?  How are its activities organised and funded?  To get all these answers and more, you can now download the presentation brochure in English, French, German and Spanish.

How does the local and regional level function in Europe?

The publication “Local and Regional Governments in Europe – Structures and Competences” provides an overview of the diversity of local and regional governments in 39 European countries.  It also sheds light on the functioning and competences of local and regional authorities, municipal and regional councils, elected representatives, etc.  The publication is available in both English and French.
