REALISE IT : Minimising environmental impact of IT waste
The London Borough of Lambeth (London, UK) is currently in the final year of the EU's LIFE-Environment programme "REALISE IT Network".
The project has two main aims: to reduce the amount of IT equipment disposed of through landfill and other environmentally damaging and wasteful ways, and to increase access to IT within the project area (the London Boroughs of Lambeth, Southwark and Westminster, and the Corporation of London). In this way, the project also helps to promote social inclusion.
REALISE IT will cease operation in September 2004, and the final phase of the project is concentrating on disseminating the knowledge gained during the delivery of the project.
