Wrap-up of the 5th plenary session of the Euro-Mediterranean Regional and Local Assembly
Local and regional governments from Euromed countries pledge support to democratic reform and political decentralisation in the region. This was the overriding tone to come out of the 5th plenary session of the Euro-Mediterranean Regional and Local Assembly (ARLEM) that took place on 24 February 2014 in Tangiers, Morocco.
Other points of discussion included the European Neighbourhood Policy, a cohesion strategy for the Mediterranean and a new initiative aimed at strengthening the institutional capacities of local and regional authorities in the area of urban development.
CEMR was represented by the mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre Prados.
