The Mayor of Vigo (Galicia) Abel Caballero was appointed President of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) during the XI organisation’s plenary session, on 19 September. He will take over the helm of the organisation for the next four years during which he wants to put forward local government as the main driver of the economic development and industrial progress in Europe.

Mr Caballero replaces Íñigo de la Serna (Mayor of Santander), who will become CEMR President by the end of 2015.
