The 2008 Green Week 'Only One Earth - don't waste it" will take place in Brussels, at the European Commission, from 3 to 6 June.

 

Green Week is the biggest annual conference devoted to European environmental policy. The focus of this year's Green Week is sustainable use of resources. Under the slogan -Only One Earth - don't waste it,' the four-day forum brings together policy-makers and experts from the scientific, business and NGO communities in Europe and beyond to debate key sustainability issues, such as:

An important focus for the discussions is likely to be a European Action Plan on Sustainable Production and Consumption and Sustainable Industry Policy, which the European Commission is expected to publish around the time of Green Week.

During Green Week the European Commission will present its European Business Awards to the most environmentally innovative companies and its LIFE Environment Awards to various cutting-edge projects it has helped finance. The nominees for the business awards come from Austria, Estonia, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and UK.
