The potential.role of information and communication technology, better energy management, better water management and conservation, as well as innovation in city planning, affordable housing and inclusive economic growth will be among the subjects debated at this occasion.
Moreover, the first 'EuroIndia Environmentally Sustainable City Award" (ESCA) will be awarded to one European and one Indian city for their initiatives in promoting higher standards of sustainable development. Kamal Nath, the Indian minister for urban development, will present the award to the two winning cities, as well as open the summit.
The summit is organised by the city of Leuven, the EuroIndia Centre, Leuven University and the Confederation of Indian Industry.

European and Indian municipalities will be coming together for the EuroIndia Summit from 13 to 14 October 2011 in Leuven (a half hour from Brussels), to discuss 'Smart, Sustainable andInnovative Cities"..
