Urban Innovation - 13.01.2014

The Guangzhou International Award offers USD 20 000 to local government for innovative projects
Is your city or region implementing innovative projects to better integrate migrants, to increase citizens’ engagement in public life or to boost efficiency in waste and energy management? If the answer is positive, we strongly encourage you to apply for the Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation!

The award recognises innovation in improving social, economic and environmental sustainability in cities and regions in different areas: public services, organisation and administration, citizen involvement or sustainability, among others.

Projects have to fulfill the following requirements:

  • Should involve original non-profit activity aimed at promoting social undertakings in the city or region.
  • Must be currently running, or have been completed within the past two years.
  • Must provide evidence of substantial impact and/or success achieved.

The award is open to cities and regions around the world, but only five projects will be awarded with 20 000 USD, as well as with a trophy and a certificate.

Biennially organised, the Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation is co-sponsored by our international organisation UCLG, Metropolis and the City of Guangzhou (China).

How to participate?

Cities and regions in Europe have to complete the registration form and send it to the Guangzhou Award Secretariat before 31 May 2014.
