Cohesion policy

We addressed five messages to the European Commission to ensure the effective implementation of the new cohesion policy. These proposals were addressed at the occasion of the Structured dialogue meeting, organised on Thursday 23 April.

Within the next months and for the post-2020, we invite the Commission to:
 

• Continue monitoring the respect of the partnership principle in the implementation of the operational programs in each Member State;
• Involve national associations of local government in the discussions and negotiations of the post-2020 programming period, including the signature of partnership agreements between the Commission, Member States and national associations;
• Create an EU scoreboard ranking Member States based on their respect of the partnership principle vis-à-vis the regional and local level;
• Further encourage Member States to give municipalities, cities and regions the opportunity to manage European structural and investment funds;
• Guarantee that the Juncker’s plan is not funded by the cohesion policy to secure this funding source for local projects.

This meeting was organised by various directorate generals of the European Commission (regional policy, maritime affairs, agriculture and employment) to assess the implementation of the cohesion policy for the 2014-2020 programming period.
