EWRC 2020 - 25.09.2020

The deadline to sign up for the European Week of Regions and Cities (EWRC) has been pushed back to 1 October. The event provides a local perspective on a variety of issues and highlights successful actions by cities and regions from across the continent. We invite you to join us in particular for the following three sessions.

How sub-national authorities localise and raise awareness on the SDGs, Monday 5 October 2020, 14:30-16:00
This session is focused on the central role and innovative practices of local and regional governments in raising awareness and transforming their cities in line with the Sustainable Development Goals. A panel of experts will describe the key enablers and the approaches taken by their territories to reshape policies and mobilise citizens to achieve the 2030 Agenda. More information.

The path to gender parity in politics, Thursday 15 October 2020, 11:30-13:00
The workshop will present the latest figures on women’s participation in politics and discuss the necessary steps and ideas for action to close the gender gap. Young Elected Politicians (YEPs) will share their experiences at the local and regional level in addressing gender equality and achieving political parity. The role of the SDGs in the crisis, Wednesday 21 October 2020, 11:30-13:00
While the world works to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) remains as important as ever. As a holistic set of objectives, the SDGs address the interlinkages between health issues and the various aspects of sustainable development. This event will show how cities and regions are implementing the SDGs in post-pandemic Europe and call on the European Union to remain focused on their implementation. More information.

Launch of the Green City Accord, Thursday 22 October 2020, 11:30-13:00
The Green City Accord will mobilise cities to engage in more ambitious environmental action. In a first phase, a community of cities will volunteer to make further commitments to improving air and water quality, waste management, noise pollution and protection of green spaces. The Accord aims for such practices to be realised and spread, improving the health and well-being of Europe’s citizens and the environment. More information.
