European Information Society Conference (June 2005) : Let your municipality shine!
The 2005 European Information Society Conference will be held in Cracow (Poland) from 2 to 4 June 2005.
24 best practice cases will be presented at the conference, covering themes such as eGovernment, eTransport, eHealth... The organisers are currently collecting examples of best practices; if your municipality wishes to present its achievements in this field, you have up to 12 March to contact the organisers (via their website, details below).
EU Commissioner for Information Society and Media, Viviane Reding, as well as representatives from DG Regio, from the Polish government and from local and regional governments will address the conference. The agenda combines plenary and parallel sessions on themes such as how to avoid the digital divide, Information society's contribution to the reformed Lisbon Agenda and inter-municipal cooperation in IT services.
Some 400 participants from 30 countries are expected to attend. The conference will have simultaneous translation in English, Italian, polish, Czech and Hungarian. Other languages may be added depending on number of participants.
EISCO2005's main organisers are CEMR's ELANET network and the Malopolska region of Poland.
