seminar on integration and anti-discrimination (Venice - 20-21 July 2006)
The European Social Network and the Region of Venice are organising a seminar on integration and anti-discrimination on 20-21 July 2006 in Venice.
 
The conference will consist among others of:
  • examples of best practices from several countries (i.e. how the Dutch government copes with the integration of non-EU residents);
  • round tables on how to combat exclusion and promote integration;
  • a discussion on the role of public social services in tackling anti-discrimination and integration.
The National Action Plans on Social Inclusion 2006-2008 and local and regional strategies in this area will also be discussed during the seminar.
 
Speakers will include representatives from ESN (the European Social Network), the EU Commission and from national and local governments.
 
The Venice seminar is the second of five thematic seminars aiming at promoting the active involvement of local and regional government in the drafting of the National Action Plans for Social Inclusion.
