How to implement the "services directive"? (EU Commission's handbook)
The European Commission has published a handbook to give technical assistance in the implementation of the "services directive".
Local and regional government will find in the publication an overview of the scope of application.of the services directive, the definition of the relationship between the directive and specific areas of law or policy (i.e. the labour law and social security legislation), as well as between the directive and other provisions of community laws.
Other topics covered in the handbook include the administrative simplification and modernisation, the freedom of establishment, the free movement of services, the quality of services, the administrative cooperation and the review of legislation and mutual evaluation process.
The publication is currently available in English and will be translated and published in all official EU languages.
