#OurDay, a day for local government to come together
On 20 November, with #OurDay, local government came together on social media to celebrate the people who keep our communities running. This social media marathon gives everyone who works or volunteers in local public services the chance to share their stories of how they improve the quality of life of residents. This yearly initiative was launched by the Local Government Association (United Kingdom).
The French Mayors' Association (AMF) has launched a similar campaign, #MaCommuneJyTiens, to show all the work local governments do for their constituents. -

Covenant of Mayors brings cities’ climate demands to Commissioners’ ears
The Covenant of Mayors board, including CEMR spokesperson on climate and energy, Mayor of Sevilla Juan Espadas, conveyed five key climate demands directly from cities to Commissioners Cañete and Sefcovic last week. The purpose of these five demands is to become the pillars of the EU’s long-term climate strategy. -

SDGs: “We feel the urgency to do much more”
For Europe to be truly sustainable, an ambitious strategy is necessary. That’s the spirit of a letter signed by CEMR secretary general, Frédéric Vallier, also endorsed by the 30 high-level members of the "EU SDG multi-stakeholder platform", who met in Brussels, on 11 October 2018.
