Urban adaptation to climate change: register now for the info event
The Covenant of Mayors is organising an information event for city representatives on urban adaptation to climate change. “Supporting local climate solutions – Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy in practice: adaptation in the spotlight” will take place on 12 October from 9 am to 1.30 pm, at the European Commission in Brussels.
What is urban adaptation exactly? How can local governments integrate adaptation and mitigation? What challenges lie ahead in terms of climate adaptation? All these questions and more will be addressed during the event.

Lisbon is first capital city to join
Lisbon is the first capital city to join the Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy.
The Portuguese capital has committed to the Covenant objectives of reducing its CO2 emissions by at least 40% by 2030, actively increasing its resilience to climate change and helping provide secure and sustainable energy for its citizens.

The European Commission has published a report: “Covenant of Mayors: Monitoring Indicators”, which provides an assessment of the progress made by signatories of the Covenant of Mayors towards their climate mitigation target.

Covenant of Mayors - 10.02.2016
A workshop to introduce the new Covenant of Mayors in Scotland
CEMR Scottish association of local governance (COSLA) and the Covenant of Mayors will be introducing the new integrated Covenant of Mayors to local elected representatives next 12 February, in Edinburg.
The purpose of the event is twofold: to raise awareness among Councils who are not currently involved and to provide space for discussion to the Scottish signatories.
