  • Euromed - 28.02.2014

    Wrap-up of the 5th plenary session of the Euro-Mediterranean Regional and Local Assembly
    Local and regional governments from Euromed countries pledge support to democratic reform and political decentralisation in the region. This was the overriding tone to come out of the 5th plenary session of the Euro-Mediterranean Regional and Local Assembly (ARLEM) that took place on 24 February 2014 in Tangiers, Morocco.

    Other points of discussion included the European Neighbourhood Policy, a cohesion strategy for the Mediterranean and a new initiative aimed at strengthening the institutional capacities of local and regional authorities in the area of urban development.

    CEMR was represented by the mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre Prados.

  • Post-2015 - 20.02.2014

    The global taskforce met in Brussels to prepare the discuss the international development agenda
    CEMR met with UCLG and its regional members on 18 and 19 February 2014 to prepare the next international meetings on the post-2015 Agenda and the Habitat III Conference in 2016.

    Representatives from the United Nations and local representatives, as Ronan Dantec - UCLG spokesman on international negotiations on climate change - also participated in the discussions. For further information on this event you can have a look at the global taskforce’s website.

  • UN-Habitat - 05.12.2013

    UN-Habitat publishes study on the state of European cities in transition
    The State of European Cities in Transition 2013: Taking stock of 20 years of reform” analyses issues affecting the 23 post-socialist European countries (Baltic countries, Balkans, Caucasus, etc.). This study covers several thematic domains, including tendencies toward urban growth, migratory processes, housing, and social and environmental affairs.

  • Sustainable Development - 02.12.2013

    ​You can still support the campaign for a post-2015 Agenda that includes sustainable urbanisation as an objective.
    About 30 municipalities and regions and their associations in Europe have already supported our campaign to have one of the future sustainable development goals dedicated to urban development, cities and regions in the UN post-2015 Agenda. Over 100 local and regional governments from other regions in the world have also endorsed this initiative.

    UCLG publishes overview of World Summit: Rabat in numbers
    Following its 4th World Summit in Rabat from 1-4 October 2013, our world organisation United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) has published an overview of the events in Rabat. The publication, “Rabat in numbers”, features an overview of media coverage and the impact that the Congress had on social media. It also gathers speakers’ contributions concerning local democracy, and highlights participants’ reactions to the event. It is available in English.  
     
  • UCLG World Congress - 12.08.2013

    Get ready for a tweetchat with United Cities and Local Goverments prior to its Congress in Rabat!
    The UCLG World Secretariat invites you to participate tweetchats (online debates) on four main topics which will be discussed at its World Congress in Rabat, from 1 to 4 October 2013. All tweets that include the respective hash-tag (see below) will be compiled to generate inputs for the round table debates during the World Summit.

    The themes and dates for thedebates are scheduled as follows :
